When we talk about leveraging content from a pre-existing brand, we usually think how can we pull all story channels from print, online, audio and the like. Of course, the colors, log and wording are all part of this strategy: building a brand.
Before leveraging content, it’s a good idea to understand first what your brand is telling others. Yes, it is a good idea to start with the colors, logo and wording because they are visual and help build a connection. The right brand builds credibility and trusts and ultimately, connects people to work with you.
When you leverage, you align your message with all forms of content –in fact, this messaging must be consistent.
What comes across in the online world however, starts with you. As a person. Not as a brand. You are the online persona behind the brand.
Simply put, branding is “feel-good” energy.
You need to cultivate that energy for yourself. Here are a few examples how to get in touch with that energy:
- Create freedom and inspiration so you feel enthusiastic about your mission.
- Show up with that energy every day whether you’re writing a blog post for a marketing brand or talking about client attraction.
- Understand that energy attracts energy.
This is really key. Energy attracts like energy whether it be sadness, worry, fear or love, gratitude, happiness.
The key is to consistently cultivate that energy – physically, energetically and emotionally.
Sometimes we have to work with our own blocks.
If this sounds too “woo-woo” for you, consider this:
Branding is a hard term to wrap your head around. Not everyone connects to Nike’s: “Just do it” brand. If you’re just starting out, you need to be clear about who you’re meant to serve. You cannot possibly be everything to everyone.
So here’s an idea: when you think of your tagline or logo, who are you meant to serve and why? What do your peeps need from you that they can’t get from anyone else? This is the million dollar question.
I’m actually in the midst of a huge revamping of my “Giving Your Voice to Your Story” brand. Come March 2016, I’ll be saying goodbye to the colors, logo, wording – everything. I’m even ditching the name. From now on, my branding will be “Giving Voice to Your Courage,” my new author site.
To get to this place, I actually had to cultivate new “feel-good” energies. What feelings were awakened within me when I thought of “courage.”As a copywriter, I’ll strengthen this connection to attract the right people I’m meant to serve.
Leverage your brand with “feel good” content
Eventually, you need to build up your brand with “feel-good” content.
If you’re not quite sure what your brand means to your community, try asking your peeps, so that you are both on the same energy field.
